I'm afraid I'm still getting the hang on logout despite installing the
libgl-mesa-dri update as mentioned by the prior respondent to this bug.
I have two desktops built on Gigabyte GA-7VKMLS motherboards which have the
pro-savage DDR chipset. I recently upgraded one from etch to sid to see if
I have the same issue described in this bug report. I have had (at various
times) both the nvidia-glx dirver and the nvidia binary drivers installed,
as packaged by debian and as downloaded from nvidia directly. I am in the
process of removing as much of xorg as I can to try to get this package

I had a similar problem. It turned out that not all of my FontPath
statements in XF86Config were valid. I don't know why one of them
suddenly became invalid, but deleting the offending line fixed things
for me.

The last I've heard from
guys at Matrox was that they too will likely go with a non-Mesa OpenGL,
and possibly ATI will as well. I'm not sure about 3DLabs, but they're not
much of a player in the consumer hardware market and probably don't even
know we exist.

I did, and naturally you are right about there being no changes to the server
or library code, which is what baffles me...I must have done something else
