Yeah, it may be a large process, but building X from source is a good way
to get your KDE/gnome or whatever gui environment fits your fancy. I had
to build X due to trying to figure out problems with my old video card.

Hi, this issue has been already addressed. If you have any biznet fonts,
remove

Aye, I noticed that too. If I tried enabling that option in the host.def,
it complains about missing MAGIC_INIT. Problem being that I have
/usr/include/linux/include/joystick.h which doesn't include that option.
I'll snoop around the source looking for that stinker. BTW, I'm still

I'm using devfs in my case. I didn't see /dev/misc/psaux in dexter's list.
I had to link that to /dev/mouse to keep dexter happy. Then, I had to edit
/etc/X11/XF86Config to point to /dev/misc/psaux. Just a minor
inconvenience. But, I like the premise behind dexter (it reminds me of

Mike, there sure is. I'm using an s3virge card. As far as I could
tell, you can use the s3virge driver for the s3trio chip. You may need to
disable some acceleration to prevent lockups. Just do "strings
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/libxaa.so | grep XaaNo | grep ExpandFill" to get
the options to put into

Which mouse protocol are you using in /etc/X11/Xf86Config? It may have
changed. Look for a section saying 'Section "Pointer" or something to that
effect.
