Checking the behavior on the second Debian box shows that: 1. The keyboard rate is reset to the Debian default every time I bring up X. Then to get the VC keyboard rate I want, I have to run the kbdrate command again (as root). 2. If I reset the rate after bringing up X, the rate stays where I
