Just in case I see something unexpected, I scheduled another
autopkgtest on my environment, but I believe I will run again
into the failure to connect to the display. I'll let you know
if that is otherwise.

Uuh, scratch that, I just saw the answer from Paul in parallel,
and appar
on. Quick lookup of open xvfb issues
suggest that #1084230 could be relevant to the problem at play,
and might also explain why there is not a large fallout of
issues in all tests depending on xvfb, but just ponctual
problems related to a particular way to launch the X server.
