When I boot into X Vertscrolling works perfectly but eventually stops
working.
Once Vertscrolling stop working I type

This is not a bug in xorg intel driver itself but in kernel KMS code.
See https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21246 for more details and
link to linux git comming with patch.
Installing 2.6.30-rc4 fix this issue.
Maybe this bug(s) should be reassigned to debian linux kernel package? Patc

you're not using XFree86-DRI, you're using DRI2. Not the same

In the second report, the culprit turned out to be totem (see
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/216939), and the
original reporter is probably experiencing the same problem.
