It isn't obvious (for me at least) how to configure my LCD display
at its native resolution of 1400x1050 using debconf.
Doing a web search seems to indicate that these settings are required:

I just did a
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-common
and changed the nice value of the xserver from -10 to 0 using debconf.
However, Xwrapper.config looked like this after doing so:

What's the policy on including $Id$ string changes in diffs - yay or
nay? Or only if you do a *complete* merge up to that revision? I'm
currently prepping a patch that should fix the ()*#$ i830 waitring
deadlock o' doom, and wondering what I should do with the $Id$ string
change.

Later this evening I found some more problems with my xfree86
install/config:
1. Hardware cursor is not working displaying some garbage instead of
cursor image. SW cursor work fine, but I'm afraid hw cursor doesn't
work because of memory problems discussed later.
