I get an error when starting up kde that says that sound cannot be
initialized because it cannot open /dev/dsp. I tried looking for a man
page on dsp but there wasn't any. I assume that it has something to do
with the file permissions on /dev/dsp and that all I have to do is to use
ch

would just crash firebird. Then, I installed blackdown java. Now firebird
doesn't crash, but java just shows up as a gray frame in the browser. I'm

Thanks for the tip. I had the plugin in my ~/mozilla-firefox/plugins
directory. It turns out that it has to be in
the /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins directory. I really don't know why but
it works now.
