I am working on converting several machines running W95 to a Debian
system running Helix-Gnome. My plan is to use Samba to talk to the
existing NT server. However, I am unsure as to what the best tool is for
network configuration. Some Linux distributions use linuxconf or
check new settings

I have been following the Potato and Helix-Gnome discussions, and decided
to try the setup. I downloaded last weeks version of Potato, and it works
fine. I purchased the Helix-Gnome disk, and it works - at least with Red

Thanks for your responses! I finally solved the Potato and Helix-Gnome
installation problem. I found that if I do NOT use the "simple" package
choice in apt-get, but use the "advanced" instead, it works. I am able to
use the Helix-Gnome CD with no problem.

Thanks for your suggestions regarding the PS/2 mouse. Through working with
your suggestions, I finally discovered the solution specific to my
situation. In the gpm.conf file, I changed the repeat_type= so that there
is NO repeat type (a blank space). Now it
without any configuration problems,
but I want to run "pure" Debian on all machines.

I have been experimenting with the the Beta 4 network install that uses
KDE 3.2. All seems to go well, until I log in as a user. The user
desktop seems to work fine, except for Konsole (or a terminal in Gnome -
same problem). Konsole loads OK, but has no prompt! In other words, I
