Is there something I can add to the F3-listed rescue command to start up in
command-line mode rather than in KDE when booting from the first CD?
Thanks.

Even though XFree86 and KDE were installed, on bootup I get only a
command-line prompt. Any thoughts?
Thanks.

During the initial setup procedure, Debian seems to be extremely fussy
about permitting the creation of boot floppies and equally fussy about
booting from those it does create. Is there a way to burn a more reliable
boot CD instead?
Thanks.

You are probably correct; however I have no such problems under MS Windows
and few under SuSE 8.1.

A 7-disk set of Debian costs approximately one-third the $50. price of the
comparable low-documents SuSE package.
Other than price, what is the attraction of Debian over Red Hat, SuSE or
Mandrake?
Thanks.

1. In console mode I have no problem logging in either as root or normal
user. In graphical mode (level 5) , all logon attempts fail.
Any thoughts?
2. How do I start up KDE after logging in under console mode?
Thanks.

The #!%^* Debian Installer refuses to find my US Robotics Performance Pro
modem (which is working fine under both SuSE 8.1 and Windows XP). What is
the best place on the Debian web site to look for information on installing
modems?
Thanks.
