Hello,
I want to compile an ada program, it works if I use `gnatmake', but if
I want to use a Makefile or cook, gcc -c won't compile:

Hi,
I got an unwanted logout after about 20 minutes of inactivity under X. I
am using Sawfish and the only programs I running are xterms. I am not

I think this started just after the last upgrade of parts of xfree in
woody some days ago.
This is really annoying, does anybody ha

If the cards use different modules, `dmesg' should give you some
information on which card is is served by which driver.
But if the cards

This is strange:
I' m using gs-aladdin, and I would like to view encrypted pdfs.
gs-aladdin suggests gs-pdfencrypt, but installing gs-pdfencrypt would
install gs and gs-common and remove gs-aladdin.
So how can I view encrypted pdfs with gs-aladdin?

Are you sure the CD/DVD doesn't cause the problem?
If this happens with media which are known to work on other systems, I
too would agree that the drive itself seems to be bad.

Using somthing like `dev=/dev/cdrom' or `dev=/dev/hdc' should work, too.

Hello,
I got a problem with syslog on Woody. I have several machines on which
kernel messages do *not* get logged to syslog.
In the syslog.conf, the first line is:
| *.* -/var/log/syslog
`dmesg' does show the kernel messages, but I can't find them in
/var/log/syslog...

One question:
Where are the default ulimits stored?
I got two Woody machines here, one has a ulimit -u of 256, the other has
3067.
