You will have to download and use the isapnptools package. Once you have
that installed just follow along with the instructions and you should have
sound. By the way, sound *must* be compiled as a module in order for the
isapnptools to work properly.

A great many files could possibly be effected. It depends on if you are
running DNS, sendmail, samba, etc.. The essential files are
/etc/hostname, /etc/hosts, and edit /etc/init.d/network for the ip
changes.

the first option which asks if you would like do add support for
"experimental" stuff.
Then go to the sound section and select [Y]es for the es1370 support.

"experimental" I believe and that is for the read-only. I understand the
read-write ability to be considered unsafe to use. I have had no problems
with the read-only stuff working though.

/etc/localtime is correct and that /etc/timezone has the correct
information. Also run hwclock to check to see what your BIOS is reporting

I recently bought a TNT based card and I use it with Debian. You have to
download the binary XF86_SVGA Xserver from xfree86.org and place it it
/usr/bin/X11/. The binary only server is from the newest Xfree86 release,
3.3.3 which has not been made into a Debian package yet due to time
constraint
That card, the same one I have, is problematic at 24bpp. Get used to it
at 16bpp. Search last years e-mail archives for details. This question
used to come up a lot.

believe. It works in X with the Mach64 server. Mine only has 2meg
because it is integrated into this POS Gateway motherboard. I don't
really like the chip but it does work in Linux.

bootup. The cards start at eth0...eth1..ethN (N being 1 less than the
physical number of cards). You can then use ifconfig to add/bind IP's to

I have had a moment of clarity this morning and I have "seen the light"!!
No longer will I be a part of the Debian community because its purpose is
flawed. I will run Microsoft Win95 from now on! So Win95 crashes all the
time, at least I can through to their tech-support when I need to.

but I am having some problems with AS 1.4. I was just wondering if anyone

Is there a way to send broadcast announcements to Win based computers on a
local LAN? Similar in function to "WinPop-Up" but originating from my
Debian machine, of course. I wish to announce reboots and stuff before
they occur to all the local machines.
