PPP help (bit 7 set to 0)

Hello Debian Users, I am having a problem connecting to my provider via ppp. When I run my pon script, my modem dials, connects to the modem pool but I never receive an ip address. My first concern is that I see ppp0 as a device (ifconfig) even before my modem connects to the modem pool. Needless
