Hello Debian Users, I am having a problem connecting to my provider via ppp. When I run my pon <peer name> script, my modem dials, connects to the modem pool but I never receive an ip address. My first concern is that I see ppp0 as a device (ifconfig) even before my modem connects to the modem pool. Needless to say I don't have an ip listed under ppp0.
Next, my /var/log/messages file says : Received serial link is not 8-bit clean. Problem: all had bit 7 set to 0. Exit. I read the ppp FAQ /ppp/docs/, and it only suggested why the problem may be happening. It did not give a fix. If anyone could please give me a hand it is much appriciated. Thank you, Ashby
