You need to know what kind of card it is. Is it plug-and-pray? ISA or
PCI? If you have Win installed on that computer, it would be very easy
to go into the card properties and just copy out all of the settings

Well, I didn't update the kernel ppp sources. The README.linux, that
came with pppd-2.3.10 said that if using kernel above 2.2.7, it's
unnecessary.
Will this have any impact on pppd's or the kernel module's
performance?

regularity for me implies that it could be a routine my ISP is running
weekly. Also, the IP is in my ISP's

newer stuff, (wine, for instance) that's compiled against glibc2.1.
Should I expect some of my self-compiled programs not function
correctly with glibc2.1? Just how exactly painful is it?

worked fine on a FAT16 partition, but won't even start checking the

As far as I understood from anacron and anacrontab man-pages, it is
not ment to be run on a user-level, right? Is the only way to set up
an anacron job is through editing /etc/anacrontab or adding script to
/etc/cron.daily?
