I recently upgraded from potato to woody and I'm wondering why
dpkg -l | grep potato
gives a bunch of matches (see them at the end of this message), even though
there's no "potato" or "stable" in /etc/apt/sources.list

Has anyone had any luck installing Debian 2.1 on a Dell Inspiron 7000? I
have a 3c575 CardBus adapter which I'd like to use. I've got the NIC
working under RedHat 6.0, but I'd rather use Debian as its what I have on
all my other Linux systems.

Have you been able to make the NIC do 10Base-T? I edited the
/etc/pcmcia/network.opts file so the line for speed detection was
"10baseT" but this didn't work. Wish I had 100MBps, then there'd be no
trouble. :)

For Slink XFree86 3.3.3.1, use

stand-alone DOS versions, doesn't do long names. What you could do is get a
Win95 boot disk and reformat the DOS drive and then have the long names
visable to Linux, but Win3.1 would still see only 8.3

Difference is kdm is for starting the KDE environment only. xdm starts a
more traditional setup using fvwm2, windowmaker, or whichever you prefer.
