Or you could download 2.0.36/2.2.1 kernel source, which should recognize the memory. At 11:29 AM 2/10/99 -0800, Mike Garfias wrote: >Sebastian Canagaratna spoke forth with the blessed manuscript: >> I have just installed 80 MB memory ( old was 16, and I added >> 64 MB ). I am using Debian linux

Its a bug in RealPlayer 5.0. Take it up with RealNetworks. In RP5.0, they took advantage of a bug in the 2.0.x kernels that got closed up with 2.2.x. On Mon, 15 Feb 1999, Paulo Silva wrote: > > Hello, > > Is there anyone having problems with real player and sound in new > kernels? > > I a

There is a 'UNIX for Dummies' book. It might be helpful in getting you through some of the userland basics, but it won't be much help as far as sysadminning goes. You can use lilo to dualboot the system, eliminating the need for a boot disk. Attached is a sample of my lilo.conf for booting Windoze

You probably want to run a Windows NT-style file and print service on your Linux box... Only this works better than the real Winblows. Take a look at Samba -- http://www.samba.org At 08:09 AM 2/25/99 +1100, Stephen Lavelle wrote: >Where can I get info about how to network windows to linux (spec

Nope, you need Win95 for long file names. Even DOS 6.22, the last in the stand-alone DOS versions, doesn't do long names. What you could do is get a Win95 boot disk and reformat the DOS drive and then have the long names visable to Linux, but Win3.1 would still see only 8.3 At 05:22 PM 3/1/99 E

No big traps that I can think of. I'm actually running NT+Linux on this very machine. I prefer copying the Linux boot sector and using the NT boot loader. Its nice being able to use the arrow keys and not have to type anything as Lilo can require. Check out the Linux+NT-HOWTO for details. At 0
