Is there a switch (option?) during the installation process one needs to
be aware of using a sata system?
I was planning on using a May 30/09 netinst snapshot ("squeeze") for a
basic system and then add from there.

Over the last few months I have described my on-going tales of woe with
the sata DVD/CD-RW on this new machine. A number of you have made some
helpful comments which have unfortunately not alleviated the situation.
There are also no switches to use when installing to sata drives, so I

not enabled at boot up, it would appear that it is running in the
background. I recall that portmap used to be a security risk, but is
this still the case and should I be concerned?

this may be a really simple misconfiguration, but as
I said - when compared to suggested configurations found on the web, my
config file seems fine and yet it just won't allow me access to webpages
which are otherwise accessible without Tor.
