Hi I have a debian machine which keeps dropping its ethernet connection around every 2.3 minutes. This is the second machine that I have doing this to me now, and I cannot work out whats wrong. I have done the obvious and changed NIC's but the problem still exists. I have written a small bash sc

I've eliminated the possibility that this is a hardware problem. I switched out the CD-ROM and the audio cable from a computer I know they worked fine on. The light is flashing when the CD is playing, and I can hear sound thru headphones. I can play the CD with xmms and gtcd...just no sound.

bar-code-like font weirdness in XFree86

I just installed a new SVGA Xserver. It works great, but all of the fonts in the mouse menus are illegible. They look a little like bar codes. Occasionally, ONE item in a parent menu will become legible, but only fleetingly. Has anybody dealt with this before? Thanks, Tom

I think it's a different issue, as I just got hit by it on my laptop, and I don't have any biznet fonts installed, and it being a laptop, means it reboots a lot. In fact, over the past 2 days, I haven't installed any X Core package, so I have no idea what has changed over the past couple of days.

XFree86 4.1.0 help!

I installed XFree86 4.1.0 from the binaries provided on their ftp site. Now, Linux won't even boot! It locks when trying to start the x server. Do I need to reinstall Debian? (2.2r3, btw) Thanks, Jason Machacek
