Same thing for grub, plus there is a Debian package fo
Hi all,
which packages and/or magic incantations are needed to be able to read
asian and russian web pages with netscape. I know for the former there
are the netscape-{ja|ko|zh}-resource-476 packages available, but is it
sufficient to install them? And what about russian?
Thanks for your answers,

Are you using the nvidia openGL libs? if so, your problem is likely that
you are using nvidia libs, and mesa headers. There should be some headers
in the nvidia_glx download, you should use those instead of the current
headers and the problem should clear up. If there are no headers in that

php4 is a seperate deb from apache, just 'apt-get install php4-mysql' to
get the mysql version, it will handle the dependancies for you.

Your best bet is to convince your "network administrator" to use masq
modules for these things.
I believe netmeeting uses H.323. I remember seeing an H.323 module at
http://ipmasq.cjb.net/.
I just wrote a microsoft messenger module yesterday (what a coincidence!)
You should be able to login with
I want to see if compiling applications for SMP will help speed up some
applications. I am seeking locations of Docs, How-Tos, mailing lists, &
news groups where this subject is paramount. I am especially interested
in info regarding any special commands for using apt-get with sources

well I kinda fixed it, by adding
#undef GL_EXT_polygon_offset
at the top of my program.
And it works. ???
I didn't look too hard for SGI-issued headers, since I got that fixed,
but I'm interested by the "real" ones :-) if anyone comes across them...
Thanks for your help,

Has anyone had any luck getting win4lin to work with the 2.4.0 kernel?
I've got 2.4.0 working properly, but now I'd like to use win4lin and
they only have kernel patches available for up to 2.2.17.
Thanks,
Brian

I'm trying to understand the suid bit. So I created a little script to list
a file that I don't as a normal user have permission to read, namely
/var/log/user.log. Here's the data, starting with the permissions on
user.log:
$ ls -l /var/log/user.log

James,
No, the symlink is ok. AFAIK, there are a number of files that ALSA
wants/needs that only exist after you have built the kernel once. If there is
any other way to create these, I'd like to hear it. See my Debian University
document for more information:

Hi!
I've been trying to create a bootable CD-ROM from my /boot directory on
my hard drive. That directory contains a custom kernel (with LVM
support), an initrd image which is simlilar to the debian root floppy but
with LVM user tools and a full glibc 2.1.3 added, so that I can create
