I havent taken the time to figure out how to use PAM yet and i just upgraded to debian hamm. Unfortunately now rlogin doesnt work. I understand the basic concepts behind PAM and have tried adding "auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_rhosts_auth.so" to my login pam config file. but that didnt see

I have a feeling that Debian /Linux is particularly sensitive to media defect. Even when I use disk that are formatted perfectly in win95, I still get error during installing. Something retrying works. But the easiest way out is to get a new box of floppy. You would need 9 disks, about a box.

Moving from Ethernet to modem

When I set my system up on Debian, it was connected directly to an ethernet link, so the entire system is set up to expect connections. Now, I've had to move away from my direct connection and I need to close out all of the systems that rely on that connection being there, like apache and xntpd.
