How can I load a kernel which doesn't check for all those things I
don't have (eg, mcd, APACHE, some BIOS32 extensions...).

I've been trying to download some of the .debfiles from the sunsite
ftp, and a few files will download, but most of them come up with an error
that says:
"Cannot open Internet Site at whatever whatever, Operation completed
successfully." And it won't d/l them.
I'm using MSIE 3.0.

I am interested in finding out whether it is necessary

than a *quality* tape system?

The list is up and running. Not a heavy list, but definitely has traffic

I'm having a frustrating and probably trivial problem. I would like to
print some Postscript which I generated with "Save As..." in Mosaic.
It looks fine when I preview it with Ghostview, but the top and bottom
of the page are clipped off when I use gs to render it for my printer.
Printing starts

Hello Debianites.
I've seen discussions regarding this issue before. I have a Debian
machine at work which needs to be a reliable platform for Scientific
documment processing in TeX/LaTeX. Given my current frustration in
dealing with the demands/complaints from the users regarding the TeX

Yes indeed! Fresco is the replacement for interviews. The
development is sponsored by the X consortium. It breaks new
ground by providing distributed graphics using the CORBA
model.
I've compiled and run the Fresco96 release successfully on
my debian system. Once I find some time, I plan on

I had exactly the same problem. The fix is to add "/usr/X11R6/lib" to
the list of directories in /etc/ld.so.conf. Then run "/sbin/ldconfig" as
root. This t

Howdy! I suppose it's a silly question, but one I haven't seen mentioned in
the documentation yet: I'd like to install Debian Linux into various
partitions on 2 harddisks. hdb holds 400 MB, and hdc around 1.1 GB. Would it
be possible to put /, /var, /swap, /home, and (perhaps /local or /pub, which
I've been living off the unstable tree for almost a year. Back when the
version was 0.95r6 or something like that.
I really haven't had any problems to speak about, and certainly
not all the problems that people are writing about when upgrading
1.1 -> 1.2.
One reason may be that I just don't hav
For reasons I won't go into, I had to purge INN and reinstall. I re-installed
from unstable to find that the program that controls the config,
ctlinnd, is not on the system. Was it taken out of the package? Why?
