Hi,
I am running an updated yesterday potato/x86 system. I get the following
error when I try to run IDL (Interactive Data Language from RSI) 5.2 :
/usr/local/rsi/idl_5.2/bin/bin.linux/idl: error in loading shared libraries: /us
r/local/rsi/idl_5.2/bin/bin.linux/libidl.so.5.2: undefined symbol

problems with help from this list and the octree list, and i now receive the
following error message when trying to launch the program:

it says
undefined symbol: _fstat
The application was compiled with NAG FORTRAN 95, and the
symbol is referenced by a shared library that was provided
with the compiler. I've verified that _fstat is a system routine
of some sort, not a NAG routine.
I have an application that runs fine on hamm and slink, but on potato
it says

The application was compiled with NAG FORTRAN 95, and the

I had the same problem. It was solved by downgrading from
qt1g_1.42-2.deb to
qt1g_1.42-1.deb
Markus.
I get this error when trying to execute certain KDE programs from an
xterm in KDE.
/usr/X11R6/lib/libkfile.so.2: undefined symbol: __pure_virtual
When I execute these programs from the KDE menus, nothing happens at
all.
I'm running KDE 1.1-19990207-2 on my slink system.

i've got the exactly same problem...
I just installed gnome 0.99.3 from potato and I've been having some
problems running a few gnome apps like gnotes and gmc. They give the
error "/usr/lib/libgnomeui.so.0: undefined symbol:
argp_program_version"
Any help?

Why is this not fixed now?!? :-(
There are fixed libs, but they are not on the debian ftp server. Should
not to hard to upload the fixed libs to the ftp server

You complain to upstream maintainers to fix their packages. Until
they do, you can use an older version of libc6.
I've put the last one I had at:
http://master.debian.org/~fizbin/libc6_2.0.7
I recently installed Slink on a laptop. I have the latest versions of all
the signifigant packages. When I try to run dselect, groff, or many many
other things, I get this:
error in loading shared libraries
/usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.0-1.so.2: undefined symbol: __register_frame_info

There was a problem in the build of libpgperl. Try loading release
libpgperl_6.2.1-7 which will be on master shortly (currently being
uploaded to chiark).

Hello,
I tried to use libpg_perl the first time, installed libpgperl, libpgsql,
postgresql-dev.
When tried to run the test.pl, I got the following error message:
