I've been trying to get the svgalib driver working for the -vo option on
mplayer for some time now, but I haven't had any luck. It worked out of
the box for me when I ran 32-bit Debian, but I haven't had any such
luck lately.

I'm trying to setup svgalib (/etc/vga/libvga.config) on my old laptop.
Unfortunately viewing a picture with zgv shows a horzontally splitted
screen where the upper/lower part is shifted left/right.
My current settings are:

I am on debian unstable and after a recent dist-upgrade, all my console
utilities that use svgalib dont work. For instance zgv gives the following
error

1. The programme that comes with the source mousetest.c once compiled will run
correctly for root but not for me (ivan). The error is "svgalib: Failed to
initialise mouse."

front of the line "chipset s3" in /etc/vga/vgalib.config but SVGALib
can't ID my s3 card, so it forces VGA. Is there any thing I can do to

I have the latest (very unstable) hamm,frozen,slink - mix installed on my

During theses updates suddenly all Graphical-Systems didn't work any more.

As you say, since gs, et al. all work for other people it's not likely to
be buggy app software.

I've sent a message to this list about this before but received no reply.
I'm trying again.
Everytime I attempt to run some utilities (gs4.03, tmview, etc.) I get a
segfault with signal 11. I have no idea what this means and I'm
completely confused because some other utilities (zgv and lockvc)
Every time I attempt to run a program that uses the SVGA lib it dies with
a segfault 11. I'm running Debain 1.3, kernel 2.0.30, with the latest
SVGA lib off the Debian ftp site, on a Cirrus Logic GLD5420 (or something
close to that, it's old anyway) with 512k ram. Any clues welcome,

Hello,
I installed the tmview_96.05-1.deb package which I got from
bo/binary/tex some days ago.
At home it works fine at home but in the university
it produces only a very strange vertical pattern.
There aren't any error messages.
The demos of svgalib work well.
