I am using an s3virge card on a machine I am trying to configure with
Debian Woody. I have tried to set up the card several ways, including X
-configure. No luck.
I wonder if there is a problem with the s3virge driver--could it be
incompatible with the Woody kernel? How do I get an s3virge driv

Hi all,
A long time linux user recently wrote a bad review of
Debian/Libranet on another list based on his experiences in trying
to install it on slow Pentiums equipped with S3 Virge Trio 64+ video
cards. Before I reply to him I thought I'd check and see if anyone
is using this card, o

Dear Sir,
Can S3-Virge support for Windows 2000 ? If can't, please help me to
solve the problem.
Please reply to [EMAIL PROTECTED] & [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Thank you very much!

I have just bought a secondhand S3 Virge/DX card (Eagle brand). I've
used XF86Setup to get a roughly working XF86Config file, but I think I
should be able to do better. Here's what I can get so far:
1024x768 24bits --- seems to work fine
1152x864 24bits --- works, but some &quo
Dear Sir,
Did you ever get your IBM 9504 working correctly with your Virge/DX video
card? If so, would you share your secret with us non-tech types?

Hi,
I've an S3 Virge GX2 with AGP, and it seems to me, that causes some
stability problems in my Slink box. Which X server is recommended?
Is XF86-S3V 3.3.5 compatible with my card?

That card, the same one I have, is problematic at 24bpp. Get used to it
at 16bpp. Search last years e-mail archives for details. This question
used to come up a lot.

Hi,
I have a 4mb diamond 3d s3 virge video card. From XFree86.org, I
read that "1280x1024 at 24/32 bpp for a 4 Meg".
However, I can only achieve 16 at 1024x768. When I try -bpp 24, I
get the following output:
virge:/home/s2193893# X -bpp 24 :1
XFree86 Version 3
Hi!
Is this supported by hamm? If so, do I have to install anything
special?
I've tried choosing the video card directly from the list of
xf86config, but it doesn't work.
Thanks for your help!

Does anyone know if XFree86 supports the AGP versions of the S3 Virge

Hello again :)
I am using a S3 Virge DX (375) and SVGALib. I have removed the # in
front of the line "chipset s3" in /etc/vga/vgalib.config but SVGALib
can't ID my s3 card, so it forces VGA. Is there any thing I can do to
fix that?
It seems every time I install X I have to get someone else's XF86Config...
Every time I try to start the Server, it violently blanks out, where I have
to violently mash The Big Red Button. Anyway..
Could anyone who has the above Video Card E-Mail me the file?
TIA,
-Ryan

Hello, I'm a _relative_ newbie to Linux. I'm a competent enough to get
Debian 1.3.1 CD (from LSL) installed. I've gotten the kernel recompiled,
and have gotten diald & sound options compiled.
My question, my only problem, the fly in the ointment of Linux, the
"black fly in my Chardonnay" is that w
xed.
Good. Pay attention to the new XAA features. According to my
experience, some of these features do not work properly.
Since I don't have a S3 Virge card, that's all I can help. Good luck!
