Hi, all...
I'm trying to install an SBLive into my linux machine and
I'm having trouble getting the sblive module (v0.2) provided
by Creative Labs for kernel 2.2.5 to install under 2.2.12.
I enabled MODULE VERSION support for my kernel and recompiled
everything, which I assumed would allow this

i've been having some troubles with a linux fileserver i've been maintaining
regarding seemingly random crashes and freezes. i'm inclined to put it down
to a hardware problem but i noticed i'd used a 2.2.12 kernel and have since
heard that 2.2.11-2.2.13 are somewhat problematic. could

In Debian GNU/Linux, U have a package called 'kernel-package' in /misc.
Install this pack and start compiling UR kernels using 'make-kpkg'

Hi,
If anyone is using the sblive under kernel 2.2.12, would you be willing to
email me the sblive .o module?
I don't have a way to edit the file with a hexed as the speach output I'm
using makes this hard.
Thanks.

I tried to run kernel 2.2.12 on a system with X 3.3.3.1 and the Creative
Banshee server installed. Under 2.2.12, mouse behavior was erratic in that
as I move the mouse left or right, the pointer would move in random

I'm trying to upgrade my kernel to 2.2.12 and after I do the "make dep,

This looks very much like what I am getting. When I look at the logs at
the other end I see that my end is sending empty LCP packets. Is there any
way you can check the logs for the other end?

Those look normal enough. Does pppd run at all? Does the modem dial?
Does pppd dump core?

Then you may have a very different problem. Do you have debugging enabled?

What does your ppp.log look like? I'm having similar problems: my system
sends empty LCP packets when I run 2.2.12.

Hi,
thanks for this hint. I had that same error message (PAGE_OFFSET_RAW'
undeclared).
I had copied my .config from a 2.2.10 kernel sourc
but

I have the latest unstable system, with gcc 2.95.1-0pre2. Kernel 2.2.12
compiled fine and I have been using if for a couple of days now.
I must admit, I went away and did something else while it was compiling

the problem had something to do with the xconfig.

have anyone faced any problems compiling the 2.2.12 kernel on potato?
I just compiled 2.2.12: here's the uname -a:
Linux euler 2.2.12 #1 Fri Aug 27 05:43:17 UTC 1999 i586 unknown
No problem whatsoever, it just dropped in and replaced the previous

In looking further, I found that it didn't detect my video ram correctly
and set it to 512k. Specifying 2048k in XF86Config cured the problem.

Has anyone else had trouble getting X to work with kernel 2.2.12. The
same setup I use with 2.2.11 won't work. For some reason it wants to
limit my dot-clock frequency to half what I have with 2.2.11 and that
doesn't leave any valid modes.
System is potato with xserver-svga 3.3.
