If you can navigate through an editor, I've had excellent luck with
gShield, http://muse.linuxmafia.net (and with a domain like linuxmafia,
how can you go wrong? :)
In any case, rather than a gui like firestarter or fwbuilder, you edit a
config file once and run it every time you boot and basicall

I have a stock Woody system with Gnome 1.4 running, connected to the
'net via a 802.11b connection. I want to put a simple firewall on there,
just to keep things locked down a little more than they are now.
Is there anything real simple, user-friendly, configure-and-forget
available for Woody?

For a beginner in the firewall world, I'd recommend PMFirewall. It'll set you
up quickly and painlessly, if you don't have the time to learn the
ipchains syntax. I was in a situation where I had to implement before I had the
knowledge. This gave me the breathing space to learn. Sometimes we learn b

No, Corel = Corel and Debian = Debian, they just made it a bit bugged.

Yes, Corel is always Linux. :)

I'm getting a wireless T1 feed tomorrow and I want to connect my network of
windows and Linux machines to the internet securely. I will only have one IP of
course.
What is the best way to implement this using Corel Linux?

Hi,
In this case I actually want to get the full 100 BaseT
bandwidth because the firewall is between our department
and the rest of our site. The actual link to the internet
is quite high speed (much more than T1). So the question
remains I think: how much cpu power does it take to get
full 10

Hi,
I will be setting up a firewall and need to decide what type of
computer to buy. It will be a debian intel pc running as a
packet filtering system (restricting various ports, etc) and will
have 2 100 BaseT interfaces. I plan to use 2.1.XXX kernels and
ipchains. In the future it may get fanci
