I am using kde2.2, after installed xfonts-intl-chinese, the characters showed
on my screen became very not smooth. So I removed xfonts-intl-chinese,
but the problem still exists. I think perhaps there are wrong settings in

Blackbox was listed on the first line of my window-managers file. (yes, I'm
very new to Linux in general).
I changed that first like to Window Maker and now I'm able to get a window
manager up.

/etc/X11/xdm/Xservers file itself points this out, as does the startx
manpage, and /usr/doc/xfree86-common/FAQ.

I used APT for getting blackbox's package from the frozen section. I also
grabbed the xfonts-100dpi and xfonts-75dpi packages, along with the basic
stuff (xfont-base etc etc) needed for running X.
