I've used the plain netscape-navigator 4.51, with out email/news support... With java turned off... I hardly ever have it die. 99.9% of the time, I really see no need for java (esp considering that I used lynx exclusively until acouple of months ago, due to owning a 486) --George

I completely agree! But why does configurability exclude simplicity? It doesen't! You can have both, and you know what, this is what I would like to see in Linux: A stable OS for ALL. With a program like XFmail you can either use "normal" POP/SMTP setup, or you can configure it to use exim/sendma
