I've been following the guide at:
http://www.debianclan.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=154&Itemid=38
and I managed to make the Momodesign umts modem work under Debian Etch.
Although, the connection is very slow: 15 Kb/s whereas under MS Windows
they're about 80 Kb/s.
Does anyone

I have a hsf modem and sarge. Compilation is required
during installation, and it fails.

Selecting previously deselected package hsfmodem.

Have been trying unsuccessfully to configure my ADSL connection with a
Speedtouch Home modem, connected through an SMC USB connector. It is all
working fime in Win 98 and some trial installations I did with red Hat and
Mandrake both detected and set up the modem correctly. I would rather use

Don't ask my why, but the kabelfoon modem returns a "no
carrier" when a connection has been established. Just remove: ABORT
'NO CARRIER' from /etc/chatscripts/provider and it will work fine with
ppp.
Good luck,

"kabelfoon" modem (cablemodem) to work. It's connected to a normal serial port.
I get some reaction from it just using PPPconfig but then it just dies. I seems

I want to install a pci internal modem (56k from lucent tech, tested on
Redhat Linux), following the instructions in the modem installation manual.
The manual says to give the coomand 'cat /proc/pci' and find the IRQ of the
modem. The coomand prints a valid address, but I ge

With a bit of lack, installing your modem is simply connecting it to the

Sorry for the question since it is not directly debian-related.
I bought a US Robotics external modem. I don't find any documentation
saying how to install it, how to access my internet provider (do I need ppp,
sendmail...?). Could anyone point me to the good way.
Thanks in advance
