GMT/timezone really doesn't matter: the timezone is set inside your
computer and would be better served with tzconfig. This having been
said, what stratum are you cool with? I use tycho.usno.navy.mil
(192.5.41.293), but that's second stratum (it's also The Naval
Observatory's WWW time server).

I don't know. Try to find it out by reading in /usr/doc/xntp3 and the
corrosponding man pages or measure it...

With xntp3 you donot need to have a crontab entry. The xntpd daemon will
take care of it.

Hi all,
Is there a command I can put in cron to have the time set by a ntp server
that is appropriate for the UK?

Have a look at the documentation in the xntp3 package. There is a link

By spec, ntp servers try to sync to UTC, not GMT. Since the difference
is probably not important, that means -any- ntp server -should-
I have always found tick.usno.navy.mil and tock.usno.navy.mil to be
helpful. For more information check out, www.usno.navy.mil.

get my computer time correctly set to gmt so it will display the correct time.
