I switched between xdm and gdm, and the problem with unresponsive window manager and
locked in focused window seems to go away with that, though I am not totally sure. Inbetween,
it worked with gdm for a short time, but on the second try I started a terminal window and iceweasel/firefox

to place some new window i
cancelled long ago. It seems that Xwindows switched to modal windows
somehow...
then I have shut down gdm and started X manually from console by
startx. This seems to work even with gnome so I suspect it might be a gdm
problem.

I've found how to solve my problem.
If you want to use GDM with Dell Stydio Hybrid, you should add these
lines on xorg.conf :
Option "NoAccel""false" # []
Option"AccelMethod" "XAA"

I've just buy and installed debian lenny on "Dell Studio Hybrid"

Started up my PC and X seemed to have started up twice, then I got a
message saying "You seem to have already a X server running on :0,
should I try starting up in that window or should I not do this?" and I
see there's 2 or 3 instances of X running so I kill them all. But GDM
