Is there a Debian mail package that can talk to an MsExchange server?
If so, I could stop using Win95 MsOutlook97, and leave Debian up full time
at work.
For my new 8.4gb hard drive, I placed the Win95 partition at the front, and
Windows FDISK thinks there are 1023 cylinders. Linux knows about the full
4088 cylinders, via LOADLIN boot parm "HDA=4088,64,63".
Now both systems boot ok, and I don't have to use MaxBlast.

I used to boot the kernel directly off a floppy (created via "dd if=vmlinuz
of=/dev/fd0 bs=512").
After increasing memory to 96mb, I now boot a dos diskette containing
LOADLIN.EXE and the kernel.
The AUTOEXEC.BAT contains 1 line:
loadlin vmlinuz mem=96m hda=4088,64,63 root=/dev/hda2

Are you referring to the special (type x'12') Compaq diagnostic partition on
the hard drive?
When I moved to a larger drive on my Compaq Deskpro2000, I had to
define/load the partition using several boot diskettes downloaded from
www.compaq.com (your model may require different versions):

FAT32 does not appear to be just a new partition type, which can coexist
with FAT16 & Linux partitions.
Both utilities I tried (Win95 FDISK & Maxtor Maxblast) required either all
FAT32 or no FAT32, and Linux FDISK was then unable to add any Linux/FAT16
partitions, once there was a FAT32 partition.
I had the same thing happen: 5+minute load for some boot floppies, others
ran 'normally' (<60 seconds). Is this what the LILO "COMPACT" option
addresses?

To replace the WIn95 telnet, I highly recommend Teraterm - you can download
it from hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA002416/teraterm.html

Problem solved when I rebooted (I forgot that I hot-swapped in the color
monitor).
Now colors are showing up per usual.
The server 'send' command references the incoming ip-port address, and
completes successfully, but no, I'm not exactly sure that the datagram makes
it back to the Debian box.
Is there a simple way for me to verify that a datagram came back (i/o count
or something)?

The "ls --color" displays, and also Lynx screens, are still using
underlining & high-intensity, instead of real colors.

I'm trying to write a mainframe (MVS) timserver (udp-37 only). I test it
with a Debian 2.0 cmd "netdate udp ", which sends a 1-byte
0x0A message. My server sends back a 32-bit unsigned number (# of seconds
since 1900-01-01, per RFC868), but the Debian netdate command times out.

I replaced my mono VGA monitor with a color monitor. Now what do I change
in Debian (2.0, from Cheapbytes cd)?
Any negative or positive feedback on running Linux on an Abit TX5 main board
with an AMD K6-200 cpu?
I have the chance to upgrade my work PC (Win95) , and I will be adding a
Linux partition.
