dual boot systems with same /boot.
Even during a new installation if the system already have another
GNU/Linux it will create unbootable entries for that. See #580736
Earlier with grub I remember these are correctly configured. Plus
without a single configuration file, it is much more difficult
and the GRUB

I am new to debian and have just installed it on my system but the XServer does not
work. The hardware configuration of my PC is as follows:
PIV - 2.66 GHz
512 MB RAM
Video Chip - Intel(R) 8284 5G/GL/GE/PE/GV
Vendor - Dell

H Sync - 30-85
V Sync - 50-160
Mouse - Optical USB M
efore. i did upgrade to xfree 4.3 though and built a new
2.4.22 kernel. i attached the log and the config file. can someone
tell me where i am going wrong? someone told me its because of a 4.2
module thats crashing. but i thought this was common.

check whether you can ping to yourself (lo) 127.0.0.1 on each pc.
