There must be something I misunderstand, then. I put the following into
.muttrc:
my_hdr From: Mark Zimmerman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
So that my real name would show up as well as my address.
If you look at the headers in this message, my real name is gone. This has
annoyed me for a while now.

Last night, I completed my upgrade to potato with an 'apt-get dist-upgrade'.
The only breakage I haven't been able to fix is in papd, or something
related.

Wouter,
My setup is similar. Is that the only video line in your lilo.conf?
Also, where did you put it? (in case it matters).

Is there a trick to getting the framebuffer console working in Debian?
I followed the instructions in the Framebuffer-HOWTO but at boot time, I
get a message saying something like:
"You passed an invalid mode, press to see the valid modes"
Of course, it shows only vga text modes in t

I would like to know if there is a standard place to put the ipchains
commands for ip masquerading so they get executed at boot time. For now,
I stuck them in /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh but if there is a more customary
location for them I want to put them there so that they don't accidenta
Based on some advice in this thread, I decided to try upgrading a few
non-critical packages to see how it would go. After getting a few things
upgraded without a hitch, I decided to give samba a try. It broke.
After downgrading samba (also easy) so it would keep working, I looked

I have a Tripp Lite Internet Office 500 UPS and I want to set up a power

In case anyone os interested, the problem turned out to be some spurious

After upgrading some X-window packages last night I cannot start X without

I'm using one now and it works great. You need the 3.3.4 SVGA server.
I am running slink so I updated X to the 3.3.3 debian packages at netgod.net
and the 3.3.4 SVGA server direct from xfree86.org.

Thanks for the kick-start; I have gotten this to work.
For the benefit of the other side discussions that this question started,
let me give a little background. I wanted to install qmail which is only
available in source form. Since it provides 'mail-user-agent', I wanted
