Hey that got it to work for me!! I have had problems following other how-to's.
Well, the HD speed went from 3 MB to 22 MB.
This is still a long way from 66. Is this normal? (I here 66 is almost
unattainable)
I have a motherboard and a hd that support ata 66 so I'm not sure what the

It's because root doesn't have 'rights' to your X display. You can't run any
X programs as root if you su to root when you are logged into X as yourself.
The command:
xhost +host_name
typed in as your user will allow root access to it. Be aware that I believe
this is a security risk (anyone?)
I originally installed debian w/ dhcp. I am now going through a firewall. I
can't seem to find the files that contain the correct information so I can
modify them to use the new information. Right now I have to type 'ifconfig
eth0 down' then bring it up with the correct information.
When I mo
nd eth1 the changes
never seem to stick. Meaning I open it right after closing it and it didn't
save anything. What are the files that I can edit directly? On redhat they
are like '/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1'

Why does it say the system's FQDN doesn't match? Doesn't match what?
