Have you tried alsa? Install alsa-modules and alsaconf; the latter
will find automagically the drivers you need (i810).

well, I do not know whether there is or not a good and light
"powerpoint" reader. I do know you can read .doc files with abiword but
I have not found a .ppt reader. I tried with kpresenter in kde2(it
suppose to have a filter for .ppt) but it did not work.

Hi again, at the end it was not the symlinks but something a bit (more)
silly. The entry initrd=/initrd.img was there but..under the older
kernel. So I just added the line to the new one.
