As I referred to in my previous email, is that I have tried fdisk /mbr in DOS and that hasen't worked. I believe there is something corrupt in the boot sector/FAT tables. And I can't get it back. I have tried the DD if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda1 bs=1024 count=1 and it doesn't do ANYTHING. It gives me

The previous problem I had with getting DOS back on my laptop (Toshiba T4400C) has not been fixed. I've tried the dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda1 bs=1024 (and 512) count=1 and I've gotten nothing but errors with that line. if I get red of the bs=1024 count=1 portion, I get an error saying "invalid

I did happen to get past the partition problem of my install on my laptop by initiating the virtual console and then doing a manual delete of each partition, and then doing a cfdisk from dinstal. Now my next problem is, that it says I have a bad base14-5 disk. Now I've done 2 diskettes and downloa

Installation Partition Problem

I am a newcomer to the Linux arena. I've been a MS boy for pretty much all of my life. I just downloaded the base and rescue images for debian, and I do have all the necessary images on floppy to install debian. I'm trying to install on a Toshiba T4400C laptop. It has a 120 MB hard drive, 12 MB o
