Problem solved.
I solved the problem by reinstalling x11-xkb-utils; no harm to remove all the
gdm & gnome stuff if reinstalled directly!

What can I deduce from this? It looks like /dev/sdc is broken but SMART
tells /dev/sda would have more chance being on the verge to broke than
/dev/sdc.

to be slowly recording the video (you can see it
freezes regularly), and that kind of behaviour is the one that I
encounter frequently, despite giving a smaller `waiting time.'

Well, I just tried without Moonlight. Evidently, no crash, but the
website is unuseful without a Silverlight equivalent.
Mr. Ferreira, were you using Moonlight when trying the website? I should
have mentioned that it had an importance.
