Menu and color bugginess in KDE

2002-03-11 Thread Jeremy Whetzel
Hi, I'm having two problems in KDE 2.2.2 in unstable. First is, my /etc/menu items that I customized are not showing in my kde menus. (They work just fine in normal WMs such as Fluxbox, Windowmaker, etc...) Is there a special precaution that needs to be made or format that needs to be followed i

Laptop keyboard and switching X resolutions

2002-02-21 Thread Jeremy Whetzel
Hi, I searched the archives for this one, but maybe I didn't look for the right thing. I'm trying to figure out how to do the "on-the-fly" X screen resolution changing (via Ctrl-Alt-+ or -) with a laptop keyboard. I know that on a "regular" keyboard that you're supposed to use the grey keys, but

CD device permissions to rip?

2001-09-29 Thread Jeremy Whetzel
I'm trying to use cdparanoia to rip some CDs, but I can only seem to do it as root. My permissions to /dev/cdrom are world read/write/execute. Same goes for /dev/scd0 (except writing for "others", which is turned off and I can't seem to change with a chmod +w /dev/scd0.) I still get the message

How long from release to unstable?

2001-07-27 Thread Jeremy Whetzel
I'm just wondering how long it generally takes something like the next version of X to make it's way into the unstable branch of Debian? I'm looking forward to 4.1.0 because I need it for the support it has for my video card, but it has yet to make it to the unstable branch, and I know it's been s

Anyone have a ATI Radeon VE?

2001-07-26 Thread Jeremy Whetzel
I got an ATI Radeon VE a few months ago (paritally due to bad research. If I had known it was a "dumbed down" version of the Radeon family, I wouldn't have gotten it) but I have been unable to get it to work with X 4.0.3 on Sid. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this card, or if anyo

Modem problems after kernel upgrade

2001-07-23 Thread Jeremy Whetzel
I have a USR 5610A pci modem that worked fine with the 2.2.18 series kernel if I set the parameters in my /etc/serial.conf file (it was /dev/ttyS2), but last night I got the 2.4.6 source from Sid and built my own kernel, and now my modem doesn't work. I have ISA PNP enabled (although it says it do
