squeeze/gnome ) :
menu --> system --> preferences --> appearence --> fonts --> details -->

( there are many different cards that all go under this flag, that is
what makes it so confusing. )
So you should put the option for the ati module in alsa-base.conf .

Have you tried simply 'ejecting' the 'cdrom' ?
Also: once you are able to communicate with the -modem-, then it is
possible to tell the device to never appear as a 'cdrom' again. Link:

Also I had to install the proper video driver, in my case
xserver-xorg-video-ati . From a similar install 2 weeks ago I can see

the Debian binary #1 CD ? I tried stuff like root=/dev/hdc in the
/etc/lilo.conf on the disk, but that didn't work.
I think I need to load /install/root.bin on the CD, but how ?
