Hi,
The first time I used Debian it was version 1.2. I am now using 1.3
hamm which is nearly the same as 2.0, I think.
The system is really slow now. Is it because I am using the last version
of afterstep ? Is it debian 2.0 fault ?
Do you have same problems ?
Thanks
Franck

You can have a look at the linuxlogo (or something like this) package. It

Hi,
I have got a philips 3610 CDR-W which is said to be supported by xcdroast
and cdrecord 1.6.
When I run xcdroast, it told me ni ' no SCSI-generic-support has been
detected '
and I can't select any cd burner in the menu.
So, I recompiled my kernel (2.0.34 with hamm) with SCSI-generic-support
Hi,
Sorry for my question, I think it has been asked hundreds of times.
- Is there any StarOffice 4.0 package installer ? I only found the package
for version 3.x of StarOffice.
- Is there any way to review old messages since I think this question
has already been asked ?
Thanks

Hi all,
Yesterday evening, I discovered I can stop a ftp download using
netscape 4
and disconnect and then reconnect and go on the download at the point I
left it.
This doesn't work if I leave netscape while disconnected and try to go
on the download later.
I wonder :

I had a look at it. It doesn't seem to be 'powerpoint like' since, as I
understood,
it use command file - not direct drawing using the mouse. The same
thing could be
done using latex. Am I wrong ?

I would like to know if there is some 'excel' like software under linux.
I would like it to be free and not to big: my modem will die if I try to
transfer some 30 Mo. Is there any one in debian CDs ?
Thanks

Sorry for the question since it is not directly debian-related.
I bought a US Robotics external modem. I don't find any documentation
saying how to install it, how to access my internet provider (do I need ppp,
sendmail...?). Could anyone point me to the good way.
Thanks in advance

Dear Debian Mavens,
I am brand new to Linux, being a Windows/Mac guy. No, make that a
Mac/Windows guy. I prefer the Mac. I want Linux to rid me of any contact
with Microsoft.
Anyway, my Compaq 9240 came with a combination CD-Rom/Optical drive.
It's made by Mitsubishi/Panasonic, Model #LF-1094D.
