Hi all,
It seems to me that sendmail in Etch doesn't honor hosts.allow/deny
even though TCP wrapper support is enabled. I would like to reject mails
from IPs without reverse DNS with "sendmail: ALL EXCEPT UNKNOWN" line in
/etc/hosts.allow. (Mail originating from such IPs is almost exclusiv

Hi all,
I am trying to compile a custom 2.4 series kernel for my
server box which has /boot as a separate ext3 partition and / (root)
partition on LVM (/dev/mapper/vg00-lv03), because I prefer to have all
the drivers corresponding to my server hardware compiled into the
kernel and none as
Hi all,
I am running Debian Unstable. A recent X11 upgrade messed up my
Matlab installation. Now whenever I try to run Matlab, I get "can't
load library 'libXt.so.6'" error. I am sure it's a libc5 vs glibc2
problem, but I have no clue where to get a compatible libXt to get
Matlab working again.

Hi all,
It seems xfce4 package in unstable is broken. I get the following
message when
I try to apt-get it.

Hi all,
After I upgraded to the latest Samba 2.999+3.0.alpha20-4 in unstable, I
can't map my Linux user account from my Windows 2000 box any more. I checked
the Samba logs. The logs show

Hi all,
Has anyone successfully used Tripp Lite's PowerAlert software (ver 11)
in Debian Unstable? I just bought a Tripp Lite BCPRO 600 with USB interface.
I am using stock 2.4.19 kernel from kernel.org custom compiled for my box.
The UPS is detected correctly. Here is the output from `cat

MkLinux is practically dead.

Hi all,
I apologize in advance for a query not directly related to Debian, but I
thought somebody on this list may be able to offer me some help with
Qualcomm qpopper with TLS/SSL setup on my Debian "unstable" box. I
precisely followed instructions in the qpopper documentation about creating
nel with DHCP support. It's possible that DHCP support
may already exist in your running kernel.
2. In /etc/network/interfaces make sure that you have the following
two lines.
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp
3. Install package pump
4. Reboot your computer

least some swap space, especially after I ran one of my memory
hungry Fortran programs or after creating a CD image. But now it's 0
no matter. Has anyone else noticed this behavior?

concerned. Should I worry about this or just go ahead and do the
upgrade? Please CC the responses to me as I am not subscribed to the

o HC-Howto, SMC EtherPower II is supported. You would need to
select epic100.c driver during kernel configuration. I don't know which
kernel version though.

using dpkg. I have the custom kernel image in .deb format. Is there an
alternate way to create a boot floppy?
Thanks.
