Many problems with Netinstall of Wheezy on Aug 24 from cd downloaded Aug 24
Using the function keys F1 through F6 results in a blank screen then
after a delay No Signal.
F7 returns to a working screen of limited capabilities - on startup this
screen opened with a message regarding a gdm failure.
I doubt libgtkmm is the problem in my case, it hasn't been updated in
quite a while, at least according to my dpkg logs. I actually always
ran vmware as root, for better or for worse. Still aborts.

My box is debian testing and I do upgrade S/w very frequently.
Since last few months I have not used any sound related operation,
but today I found that alsa is not working anymore.
I have checked with speaker-test and got the following

Playback device is default
Problem is, I can't seem to log onto the router's amin console at
192.168.1.1 from my desktop. I did manage to log onto it from my laptop
wirelessly. The DHCP server was reported as running. All the other settings
seemed OK as well.
