I've been having a problem with debconf for a couple days, & noticing
the lack of bug reports or noise about it on the list, suspect it's due
to some weird anomaly on my system.
It's debian unstable, kernel:

Every time I perform a keypress at the console (command line, nano, etc.) I
can hear a tick from the hard disk.
Also, compiling from the console is almost 4 times slower than compiling
from inside KDE3. This doesn't make sense to me.
I get similar results for 2.2, 2.4, and 2.6 kernels.

As I said in my first email, when I set debian up, I didn't enable that
option. I don't know how to change this option now it's all installed.
