Say I have command 'foo' that takes a file 'bar' as input and does
something useful with it and is run like this:
$ foo < bar
Now foo expects EOF to stop accepting input and to exit and when
filtering in files as in the example above everything is perfect but foo
can also be run stand al

It looks like gnome-desktop depends on libimlib1 which conflicts with e's
imlib1...why the two different libraries anyway?
Would it be possible to use dpkg's --force-depends option or would this raise
conflicts?

I have applied the patches described in README.ATAPI and "cdrecord 1.6"

Umm... At this point, finding the culprit is not as important
as making things work. I can only think of a couple of things.
One is to make more space on / (if you can do it without messing
things up). The other is to ask the maintainer (or other suitably
knowledgeable person).

The rescue floppy cured whatever it was that I did wrong with lilo.
There wasn't anything in /root except the default installed scripts.

Acutally I don't even have a ethernet card. All that I have is a
ISP connection via modem. Obviously my system is trying to configure
something that doesn't have to. How do I set up /etc/init.d/network so
this does not happen. (I am assuming that /etc/init.d/network is
