This sounds like a kernel problem. I couldn't find anything on
google, though. Try upgrading the BIOS (not that it should matter,
but it might matter anyhow :/ )?

It sounds like you have the older, broken net-1440.img. (The working

I think the floppy-retriever might work for this. It's a definitive
goal (and it will happen faster if somebody throws a key or two in my
direct
proc filesystem is missing from fstab on installed system.
This will be fixed with the new di-utils-* which is waiting for a
fixed busybox.
