I'm using metamail -w to save parts of an email message.
A filename is provided that uses no special characters, but it is
nevertheless encoded, so that metamail offers this as the default
file:

Given a mail file with any sort of attachment, metamail -w dumps core.
Without -w, many mail files are handled without a problem.
Setting MMDEBUG produces a couple of dates, but nothing useful.
