Eh, it works fine. readlink returns nothing (and exits 1) if the link is
invalid or the path doesn't exist. If the path is already canonical,
it'll return it as-is.
By the way, you should probably drop the '/bin/' part, in D
.1' type version number, but simply '-3'.
This is evidenced by the fact your upload still closed the bug (and didn't
merely tag it as fixed). It could however be more clear in the developers
reference.
Lintian warns about this, by the way.
