I'm a new user of Linux on Powerpc , which kind differences I can find with
Linux on Intel platforms, all packages I've used on PC I can use on my G3,
how can I find compatible software? If I want update my Kernel I must use a

I've a trouble while installing JDK, I've get it from Sun server, the file
name is : j2sdk-1_3_0_02-linux.bin (a strange package) the first step I've
done is:
# chmod 777 j2sdk-1_3_0_02-linux.bin

I'm happy to say you that I've installed DebianPPC and now I'm a new Debian
user !!
The system boot well from Yaboot, I've changed path in the bootstrap
partition, the previously was /boot/vmlinux, to /vmlinux and Debian boot
fine.

While installing Suse, LinuxPPC2000 or Debian I've always the same error
returned after the 15% of installation, there is a problem with RPM, "...RPM
have returned an error with 256...", I've a G3 (B&W) 350 Mhz with 256 MB of
ram and the following partitions:

hda6 - 4 G

Debian the system go in total crash and I must turn off the machine and
