That's your fault.
If build-dependencies are unmet, that means "they're not installed". So,
do "apt-get build-dep xchat" and retry. Should work.

Maybe because the question was asked in a rather aggressive tone? That's
at least what it looked to IMNSHO.

Hi,
I've often thought that it would be useful to have tags in the BTS so
that users or maintainers could mark a bug as specific to a particular
architecture. This way, when I have some spare time, I could go to the
BTS, fetch a list of bugs that are specific to an architecture I care
about, and s

Yes, that's the usual time. It's not the record-holder, though :-)
(No, I don't know what the package with the longest build time is, but
there are packages that require almost a week to build on m68k...)

Moreover, some people just want to try out things. If they have to

Since your mac is a PowerPC-based mac, it won't work with Debian/m68k,
which can be used on m68k-based macintoshes only, i.e., those made
before 1995 or so.

We don't have much data either way, do we?
I suppose it shouldn't be too much of a problem, but I can't be sure. In
the past we've usually taken the plunge, and filed bugs if things go
really bad.
