I've got the framebuffer device compiled into 2.4 and when i boot it, i get
video, except display columns are the wrong way around.

I have a Voodoo 3 and it only works if i tick the "no video driver" box in
BootX. The linux kernel drivers are (were at 2.4test11 at least)
incompatible with a Voodoo3 flashed with the Mac ROM image (off 3dfx's
site).
however, YMMV
nVidia is roumoured to be announcing Mac Cards soon (and these m
YMMV - as the Voodoo 3 2000 with a Mac ROM will not work under linux with
accellerated video. You get a strange mix up of graphics that looks almost
like soime kind of byte order issue.
Certainly I've heard of network cards and the like working without a
hitch. and my PCI USB card works wonderfull

much less invasive, basically changes the commit to disk interval.
also, mount -t tmpfs none /var can help (maybe make a skeleton /var
and cp it over when you go into battery mode.

Dominic Giampaolo's book on the BeOS's BeFS has some interesting
performance comparisons (to ext2 and NTFS).
XFS also stores data on disk in your native byteorder :) (although they
found that the overhead of switching was minimal anyway)

out kinda mangled - was funny, but not useful. Hopefully things have

Are you sure you were patching on a clean tree? Remove what you have,
then apply the patch again on top of vanilla 2.4.22
